I wouldn't say that the AP exam was much good of an experience for me. I was nervous before the exam, since I always had some timing issues during the practice exams in class. The AP exam was harder than I expected just after the first multiple choice part. The multiple choice section had two 19th century articles, one 20th century article and one modern article. The articles from the 19th century was hard to understand as usual, so I wasn't able to finish all the questions of the multiple choice with about half the questions of the last passage left. There was a couple of questions on footnotes in the multiple choice, which I should have reviewed some more on the footnote part before the exam.
For the writing part, my thoughts were kind of messed up on the first synthesis essay. I originally had organized thoughts on the essay, but they became a mess as I continued on writing. Similarly, I felt like I messed up on the argumentative essay too. At first, I didn't know what the term "artifice" mean, and I'm still not so sure about it even after reading the whole prompt. I kind of ran short on time in the end of the last passage to write more examples, but I still managed to finish my conclusion. Overall, I think I messed up.
Hi Mei Mei!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Mei Mei, the test doesn't define you :D. I understand your struggles Mei Mei because English has always been a struggle for me. Ah, I also didn't know what artifice mean. However, I was able to bs the essay by creating a broad defintion of the word and apply some random examples like the video I watched from Facebook. How did you end up writing the essay without the knowledge of the word artifice?
Hey Mei Mei, I also thought that the multiple choice for the exam was a complete garbage. I had trouble managing my time as well for the multiple choice because I didn't get used to more than one 19th century passage. I also should've reviewed some of the footnotes because there were some questions that showed up regarding footnotes. I just want you to know that you're not alone in this because a lot of people also found the test very hard, including me! What were your thoughts for the rhetorical analysis?
ReplyDeleteI think you are being too hard on yourself. I'm sure you did a great job. As Mr. Felder said the exam doesn't define who you are or how smart you are. I agree with your views on the essays. They were also a mess for me.
ReplyDeleteDid you have problems with the multiple choic because you didn't manage your time well or because the passages were difficult?
Hey Mei Mei! I also had trouble with the word "artifice" and for a good minute, I actually believed that I would not be able to answer the essay question. Overall, how do you think the environment in which you were taking the exam effected your score?
ReplyDeleteI understand your concern. But i think thay you did well. You shouldnt stress yourself at all. I too felt as if the multiple choice was too hard and i had to re-read passages twice because i couldn't understand what they were saying. For the essay, even though you didnt know what artifice was, im pretty sure you had an idea wat it ment. There were many context cluses that i used to determine what artifice was and to be honest, i was scared i messed up the meaning.
